NETBALL South Canterbury’s administrators have been landing plenty of shots lately.

They have just been awarded the ClubMark bronze award from Sport Canterbury.

ClubMark is an accreditation programme for sporting organisations that covers a variety of aspects. They include long-term planning, good financial systems and clear policies through to volunteers being recognised, coaching development and recruitment of officials.

The only other sport in the region accredited is Tennis South Canterbury, also with the bronze level.

ClubMark co-ordinator Lorraine McLeod said she had worked with Netball South Canterbury over the past year and they had worked hard to get the accreditation.

“It’s about making organisations more capable and netball have certainly achieved the bronze level.”

Ms McLeod was looking forward to continuing her relationship to help them move towards silver.

“They have done really well considering they had a major reorganisation 18 months ago,” she said.

The reorganisation changed Netball South Canterbury structure dramatically, with the president and six convenors taking charge of the sport.

President Karen Naylor was delighted with the recognition.

 ”It’s a good achievement and has helped us move forward.”

Ms Naylor said the documentation of procedures was one of the key elements that helped them and they wanted to continue to move forward.
