NSC Senior Rep Team
The purpose of Netball South Canterbury's Representative programme is to empower the netball community by providing accessible devlopment and extension opportunities to sustain a lifelong involvement and love of netball.
Trials are open to all players that meet the player eligibility requirements in NSC Representative Programme Policies and Procedures. Players will be advised when trial registrations open each year via our social media pages and through their club/school.
Competitive tournament opportunites vary year to year and information will be made available each year when trials open.

Senior Womens Coach - Julie Langford
The Hanan Shield is an annual round robin tournament that was first played for in 1950 when Timaru's Mayoress, Christine Hanan presented it to be contested among regional centres (Timaru, Ashburton, Oamaru, Temuka). 2025 was the 75th anniversary of the Hanan Shield that is now played for between Mid Canterbury, South Canterbury and North Otago. South Canterbury are the current holders of the Hanan Shield.
Senior Whakataetae | 5-6 September 2026 | EA Networks Centre, Ashburton
The Senior Whakataetae - Whakataetae meaning competition in Te Reo, is hosted by Mid Canterbury Netball and is a two day round -robin competition featuring centres from around the South Island. This is a realatively new competition with the inaugural event being held in 2023, this tournament was developed to give mid-tier senior rep teams more exposure and competition.

In 2025 the South Canterbury Senior Representative team travelled to Christchurch to compete in the New Zealand Open National Tournament, marking the Centre’s first appearance at this level in nearly 25 years. Competing against New Zealand’s top regional teams, including squads featuring ANZ Premiership and National Netball League players, the team showed resilience, growth and determination throughout the week, finishing in the middle tier with a final placing of 15th.
